Alex Gracey

As Studio & Community Manager, Alex handles the dual role of managing the day-to-day operations at Hyperakt and overseeing the growth of the wildly popular designer-curated guides to neighborhoods with On The Grid. Prior to working at the studio, Alex worked as a Chef at multiple award-winning restaurants in Los Angeles. On really good Mondays, he often surprises the team members with oven-fresh breakfast and treats.

Alex studied Illustration at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore where he focused on the visual exploration of mental disorders and disabilities and the translation of food culture into the visual realm.

Originally from the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania, Alex recently said goodbye to Los Angeles sunshine and said hello to the brownstone-lined streets of Brooklyn. The trade from tacos to pizza has been traumatic, though rewarding in its own way. Alex is a lifelong martial artist (not to be confused with a hobbyist) and yogi-in-training (could be mistaken for a hobby).
