The American Energy Spectrum Infographic

How do Americans use their energy, and where does it all come from in the first place? We teamed up with GOOD magazine to design an infographic that tells the story of energy use (and misuse) in America. Our starting point was a technical flowchart commonly used among climate and energy specialists; while informative, it was visually busy, inelegant, and difficult to read. We simplified the flowchart to clarify how energy moves from sources to end-uses and and created easy-to-read pie charts to reveal detailed information about each source and end-use. The infographic was created as a full spread for the January 2011 issue of GOOD Magazine. An interactive version of the infographic was created for GOOD’s website.
