Improving access to Internet in public libraries

The internet has become an indispensable resource in today’s society. From employment to education, countless Americans rely on the web for day-to-day living and livelihoods. The problem is that not everyone is fortunate enough to have access to the internet.

This is where American public libraries step in. Today, more than 99% of American libraries offer free internet, a service so popular that nearly 1 in every 3 Americans take advantage of it. However, as demand continues to increase, libraries are struggling to maintain the quality of their services due to shortages in funding.

In collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Hyperakt designed an infographic to educate and advocate on behalf of greater funding for library internet resources. With playful illustrations and a layout that emphasizes the important facts, the infographic makes the case for greater resources for public libraries.
