The United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals are eight global targets to improve quality of life around the world. All 189 UN member states committed to help achieve the goals at the Millennium Summit in 2000 under the leadership of Secretary General Kofi Annan. The first and most ambitious of the goals is to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger worldwide.
The End Poverty 2015 Millennium Campaign is a UN initiative to engage world citizens and community groups in this challenging endeavor by 2015. The communications firm Y&R (formerly Young & Rubicam) was contracted to lead the marketing effort, and Design Director Greg Crossley turned the campaign’s new identity into a bold call to action.
For the program’s information kit, Crossley decided to construct the messaging out of a tapestry of diverse people, reinforcing the idea of universal participation and cooperation. Hyperakt worked with him to resolve the set’s overall design, create numerous infographics, and ensure that the end product was cohesive and compelling.
